On Monday, November 20, 2023, around 12:40 p.m., Weld County lost one of its own pioneers with deep ancestral roots. Richard Wesley Mann was 102 1/2 (he said). He was born on June 24, 1921, in Purcell, Colorado, to his mother Martha Olivia Hanson and his father Herbert Edward Mann. He passed peacefully in his home in the arms of his sons, Randy Wesley Mann and Russell William Mann, and Russell’s wife, Kristin.

The time change brought earlier sunsets and the holiday season brings us reasons to be joyful. With this photo, we bring you both wishing you a beautiful, joyful holiday season from the folks at the Breeze.

• To visit every child in the world, Santa Claus would need to travel at 3,000 times the speed of sound. But who says he couldn’t? Not us! He’s Santa!

• Don’t throw away that damaged garden hose. Here are three great uses: 1. Use as a weather strip along the bottom of your garage door. 2. Use sections to protect the blades on your ice skates. 3.Use as a safety edge on your saws in the shop. Cut to fit and slip it over the blade.

Friendly Fork meals are served at both senior centers. A donation of $5 is suggested if you or your spouse are 60 or older. Cost is $14 for those 59 and under. Reservations must be made with the appropriate senior center by 9 a.m. the day before. Both centers offer dine in and carry out options. Exceptions apply and volunteer opportunities are often available.
