GRIGGS
GRIGGS
Kim was born in Torrington, Wyoming, on November 1, 1954, the first born of James Hadley and Mary Jane (Harvey) Griggs.
He grew up in Torrington and graduated from Torrington High School in 1973. He then continued his education at Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) receiving his AA-Business Administration and then the University of Wyoming receiving his BS-Business Administration. While in both high school and college, Kim was active in football, wrestling, golf and rodeo clubs, participating in both bull riding and bareback horse riding events. During his business career, while employed by Jirdon Industries in Morrill, Nebraska, Kim obtained his private pilot license and would fly their company plane; co-owned an electronic management information consulting and computer programming business; instructed technology and computer application classes for Torrington High School; was a computer science and applications instructor for five to seven classes for five years at EWC; oversaw and managed the Technician Department with four technicians at Northern Exposure Computer Center in Torrington; and co-owned Goshen Mobile Estates with his brother. He later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, to work for the Wyoming Army National Guard as an IT Specialist for 10 years.

Kim was active in the Episcopal Church, Shriners International, Moose Club, and volunteered as a computer tech for the Goshen County Fire Department, going to numerous states to work on the fires.
In 1980, he married Rita Williams, and they were blessed with two children – Jeffrey James (JJ) and Amy Alyssa. The couple later divorced.
Kim loved the Lord with all his heart and was thankful each day for the many blessings God had given him over the years.
Kim reunited with a former classmate, Cindi Rieb, at their 30-year high school class reunion. Although they didn’t date in high school, Kim and Cindi started to date and soon fell in love, marrying on May 2, 2009. The couple moved to Johnstown in 2010 and Kim started his career with Pawnee Leasing in Ft. Collins, where he continued to work until his retirement in 2021. Kim then started substitute teaching for the RE-5J School District.
Kim’s hobbies were golfing, traveling, going to the car races, Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo, and drive-in movies. He also had an adventurous side, so after joining the Foundation’s Church “Dirt Church Jeep Club” and meeting wonderful Christian friends, Kim bought his dream vehicle, a Jeep Rubicon, which he named Hank the Tank. He really enjoyed going on off-road trails with the group and especially enjoyed their wild and adventurous off-road trails in Moab, Utah.
Kim is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Cindi; son, Jeffrey (JJ) and fiancé, Emilee Hopkins, of Cheyenne; daughter Amy (Brian) Fales and two grandchildren – Harper and Finlee of Severance, Colorado; brother and sister-in-law, Lance and Nancy Griggs of Torrington; brother-in-law, Marvin Rieb of Torrington; sisters and brother-in-law, Carol Lofink of Torrington, and Nancy and Roy Brewer of Wisconsin; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both sets of grandparents; aunts and uncles; brother-in-law, Terry Lofink; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andy and Pat Anderson; and sister-in-law, Virginia Rieb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kim’s name may be made out to Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Foundation for the EWC rodeo program and sent to: 2228 Waylon Drive, Johnstown, CO 80534.
