VARGAS GONZALEZ

VARGAS GONZALEZ

Isaias Vargas Gonzalez, 58, of Milliken left this earth peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family, on January 31, 2025.

He was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and raised in Watsonville, California, by his Godmother Lorenza Vargas (deceased) and Aunt Imelda Vargas. He located to Johnstown for a short time before moving to Greeley in 1995.

In May of 1998, he met the love of his life, Susie Herrera, which happened to be on her birthday. They realized the love they had for each other and were married the following year at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnstown on September 4, 1999.

Isaias enjoyed being outside taking care of the yard and traveling whenever he got the chance. He was also an avid soccer and Denver Broncos fan. On one of his and Susie’s vacations to Watsonville, his family loaded them up with a LOT of strawberries. Susie said that there was a sign that said they couldn’t take any fruit from California across the state line, so they drove a little slower and ate as many of the strawberries as they could until they were both way beyond full. When they got to the check-station, it was closed. Go figure!

Issa – as he was lovingly known by his family and friends – was very ornery and liked to joke around with everyone and always had a smile on his face. He raised a lot of bunnies, and his favorite one was Thumper, even though he spoiled all of them. He wore shorts and a t-shirt just about every day: sunny days, rain or snow…even in a blizzard. Shorts and his sandals, flipfl ops, or Crocs. He said it was too hot to wear anything else.

Issa was a very hard worker and was proud of his quality work. He worked for Hach Danaher in Loveland for several years until he changed his career path and went to work for Hall-Irwin in Greeley.

Issa lived in Milliken with his wife, Susie, until his passing. He will be greatly missed by all who love him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Susie Herrera Vargas; brothers, Efrain Vargas and Ignacio (Sheryl) Silva-Vargas; sisters, Blanca Vargas, Angelina Silva-Vargas and Aida Silva-Vargas; and his aunt, Imelda Vargas. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

He is predeceased by his parents, Isaias Sr. and Rosalba Vargas; uncle, Ignacio Silva; his Godmother, Lorenza Vargas; and his brother, Pedro Vargas.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. March 6 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Johnstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations toward funeral expenses would be warmly welcomed.
