During his lifetime, Tom also lived in Muscatine, Iowa, and Johnstown before returning to Council Bluffs to care for his mother. Tom is remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and a Harley-riding, fun-loving free spirit.
He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1975, attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, and played for both schools’ basketball teams. Tom was also committed to sharing his time and energy for the past 38 years to the Omaha Area Biker’s Annual Charity Run to support Nebraska Spina Bifida in honor of his niece.
He is survived by his mother, Louise; sister, Bambi (James) Heckerman; nieces, Jamie and Megan; grand-nephew, Rowen; as well as cousins and stepbrothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father, John; stepmother, Shirley; and sisters, Penni and Ann.
A celebration of life will be held in his memory on September 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Grant Street Bar in Omaha, Nebraska (8919 Grant Street). The family will hold a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, in Muscatine, Iowa, on September 12 at 11:30 a.m.
