On my morning walks, I’ve noticed that someone in a house down the street puts their dog outside, tied to the porch railing, with only a pan of water. They stay out there all morning. Now that the weather has turned cold, I still see this dog tied up every morning outside. Even with a shaggy coat, the dog is shivering. What can I do to stop this? -- Francesca W., via email

July 7, 1932 Publisher: E.E. Engberg R.A. Douglass of Johnstown Receives Purple Heart Medal for Meritorious Services In World War at Argonne Roscoe A. Douglass, manager of the Douglass Cash Store, Inc., of Johnstown, has received the medal of the “Purple Heart” from the War Department for meritorious war services, the medal having been received by Mr. Douglass on June 23rd. This medal issued to Mr. Douglass was the 16th issued in the United States.

SENIORS
Friendly Fork meals are served at both senior centers. A donation of $5 is suggested if you or your spouse are 60 or older. Cost is $14 for those 59 and under. Reservations must be made with the appropriate senior center by 9 a.m. the day before. Both centers offer dine in and carry out options. Exceptions apply and volunteer opportunities are often available.
