Around Town

Johnstown mayor Michael Duncan became local crime fighter Michael Duncan recently, when he helped thwart a theft at the local Murdoch’s store in Ledge Rock. “I was heading to Murdoch’s to pick up dog food for my three dogs when I saw two Hispanic females sprinting out of the store with stolen merchandise in hand,” Mayor Duncan wrote in an email. “They were making a run for it, jumping into a gold-colored Chevy pickup truck, ready to speed off. I knew there wasn’t a moment to waste. Without hesitation, I threw my vehicle into gear and maneuvered in front of their truck, blocking them in before they could escape. My quick action gave just enough time to capture the license plate number – critical information that would help law enforcement track them down.

Simply put, Mayor Duncan said, “You don’t steal in my town.”
