The overwhelming feelings of surprise and pride for this Roosevelt High School girls wrestling team just keep coming for Head Coach Anthony Sandoval. Early season numbers were high with 24 girls signing up for the firstyear program. Most of those girls being first-year wrestlers, Sandoval didn’t quite know what to expect of the season. Most of his efforts would be spent on wrestling basics and participant retention, he thought.
Two months later and two weeks before the regional tournament the RHS Rough Riders have several girls ranked in Tim Yount’s On the Mat Rankings, and are currently ranked 24th in 5A.
