County to freeze childcare program

The Weld County Department of Human Services (DHS) will implement an enrollment freeze on the Colorado Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP), effective February 1, due to program funding shortages.

According to a press release from the county announcing the freeze, “This decision comes in response to a combination of factors, including newly introduced federal regulations and increased state-mandated provider rate adjustments. Unfortunately, these changes have not been accompanied by sufficient funding at either the federal or state level to fully support the necessary adjustments, leading to the need for this difficult but necessary step.”
