A Milliken police officer was justified in discharging their firearm during an early- morning incident near Milliken Elementary School in June, the Weld County District Attorney’s Office has determined.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of the school at about 1:30 a.m. on June 3. Just before arriving at the scene an officer was able to speak with the male suspect by phone who made multiple threatening statements toward law enforcement. A Milliken officer responded to the area and contacted the male suspect, who immediately began to run at the officer with a large knife.
