As your local newspaper we strive to bring you the news each week, but as your local newspaper, we also understand that we are the repository of “the first rough draft of history” in our archives. We have issues of The Breeze dating back to 1907 and people will often come in to see if we can help them find “when they were in The Breeze.”
This past weekend we were happy to help a former Johnstown resident, Steve Stuntz, find a bit of his past. Steve, who now lives in Loveland, was looking for a paper from 1960 when he was the subject of a short story about receiving his ham radio operator’s license. And there it was in the archives, on the front page, a story about “a 13-year-old lad” … we love the word lad. Steve took a picture of the story and left with a smile on his face at the newsprint memory.
