MaryAnn Abrams, 87, of Longmont passed away January 2, 2024. On March 16, 1936, MaryAnn was welcomed into life by her parents, Adam and Mollie (Stroh) Helzer.
MaryAnn grew up in the Johnstown area and graduated from Johnstown High School. After graduation, she attended Colorado A&M and graduated with a degree in Home Economics and a degree in education. She taught for several years in the Gilcrest School District until her marriage to Osmund Abrams on June 26, 1960. MaryAnn was a farm wife, mother, and teacher. She taught for over 30 years in the Johnstown/ Milliken schools.
In 1994, she moved to Greeley and spent many years with the Weld Library District and as a Hospice volunteer. She also enjoyed volunteering as an usher with the Union Colony Theater. Mary-Ann enjoyed traveling with friends, especially her trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, as well as several Elder Hostel trips.
MaryAnn is survived by her sons, Brad and Brent (Georgia); and her nieces, Tamara, Teresa, and Kathy.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ozzie; and her sister, Norma Jo Ehler.
Contributions can be made to Bristol Hospice Northern Colorado in memory of MaryAnn.
A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. May 18 at the Johnstown Cemetery. A luncheon will follow.
