Around Town

Around Town
Last Friday, Roosevelt High School held its first-ever Hire Me Fair, an event designed to connect high school students directly with employers offering real job opportunities. Organized by Jennifer Boresen, RHS’s Work-Based Learning Coordinator, the event was hosted through the Weld RE-5J School District’s Work-Based Learning program. The fair featured 30 local vendors and more than 120 students from three different school districts, all coming together with a shared goal: employment. Students were encouraged to bring updated résumés, dress professionally, and be prepared to speak with hiring managers – many of whom were ready to offer interviews and jobs on the spot. “This wasn’t just about exploring careers,” said Boresen. “The focus of the event was to get our students HIRED! Often, career fairs are about career exploration – we wanted to host a fair for students who are ready for their future!” Plans are to make the fair an annual event. Got a picture for Page 3?
