Amid a gathering of friends and fellow veterans

Amid a gathering of friends and fellow veterans
Amid a gathering of friends and fellow veterans, longtime local physician Dr. Edward Kinzer, 102 years old, was honored recently for his military service with an award presented by John Reynolds from Pathways Veterans Recognition Program. Dr. Kinzer recounted several stories of his military service, beginning with being drafted for the Army. He chuckled when he admitted he was glad he was drafted because it meant he didn’t have to take a Botany class that he really didn’t like. He expressed gratitude for his military experience and was especially grateful for the four years of medical school he received for completing his tour. The citizens of Johnstown were the lucky recipients of his education, as many were able to call him their doctor and can remember the excellent care they received from Dr. Kinzer. Thank you, “Doc Kinzer” for your service to our country and community and the dedication to both. Photo by Robin Denman
