When I first began touring as an internationally renowned author and poet in the late 1980s, one of the most frequent questions I was always asked by audiences was, “What poet or author inspired you the most in becoming a writer and poet?” I would smile and instantly answer, “My rebel aunt, my second mom, my Aunt Dora.”
