Alejandrina Nuñez, of Johnstown, was called home by her heavenly Father on Nov. 16, 2013, at the Hospice of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was 65.

Mrs. Nunez was born July 17, 1948, in Guadalupe, Districto Bravos, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Alejandro and Natalia (Tarango) Trejo.

In June 1972, in Guadalupe, Mexico, she married Armando P. Nuñez. He died May 8, 2013. To this union, they were blessed with four sons. In 1979, they moved to Johnstown and remained there to raise their family.

Mrs. Nuñez worked for the Weld County Re-5J School District for 21 years and retired as head custodian from Roosevelt High School, where she was loved and adored by staff and students.

Aleja was a very active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnstown, where she was involved in the Neocatechumenal Spanish Community. A woman of faith, she tirelessly participated in various Catholic prayer groups and church activities.

Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Aleja had a strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends, which were her passion and delight. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, cooking, and shopping.

Aleja looked forward every year to making tamales during the Christmas holiday and sharing them with others.

Mrs. Nuñez is survived by her children, Armando (Kelly) Nuñez, Jr. of Johnstown, Marco A. (Jami) Nuñez of Lafayette, Miguel A. (Renee) Nuñez of Denver, and Dagoberto Nuñez of Johnstown; brothers, Jose (Catalina) Trejo, and Jesus (Elpidia) Trejo; sisters, Adela Trejo D. Guadian, Eraclio Guadian, and Matilde Porras, all of Mexico; and grandchildren, Diego, Esperanza, and Esmeralda Nuñez.

Mrs. Nuñez was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters, Adan, Ruben, Espiridion, Valentina, Altagracia, Avelino, Agripina, Rafael, Eva, and Consepcion Trejo.

Viewing took place Tuesday, followed by Recitation of the Rosary, at Our Lady of the Valley in Windsor.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday at St. John the Baptist in Johnstown. Interment at Johnstown Cemetery. A reception followed at the Milliken Community Center.
