JOHNSTOWN-MILLIKEN ROTARY CLUB

The Johnstown/Milliken Rotary Club met at 7 a.m. in Johnson’s Corner for its July 25 meeting.

Club Member Jim Burack reported his son Liam’s lemonade stand during the Rotary Fellowship Golf Tournament held July 13 at The Mad Russian Golf Course in Milliken, raised $118 for the J/M Rotary Club.

The program featured Greeley Police Department Det. Mark Forgue, a member of the Neighborhood Task Force, who spoke about gang activity in Greeley and Northern Colorado.

At the club’s July 18 meeting, Jerry Dunn – the newly-seated club president – gave the invocation and led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-Way-Test.

Guests included Assistant District Gov. Phyllis Abbot, who made a brief introduction.

Club member Colleen Flack reminded members to contact her if they intend to work the welcome booth Aug. 8 at the High Plains Chautauqua in Greeley.

Club member Stan Beltz gave his vocational talk. He is the owner/agent of Guardian Insurance Group in Johnstown.

The week’s program included a short video from incoming District G. Jule Pahres. Dunn gave the annual State of the Club Address.
Dunn outlined six goals he has set for the club for the coming year: grow the membership by six members; start an Interact Club for youth in the community; achieve a tax-exempt status on the club’s foundation; donate $2,000 as a club to the Rotary International Foundation; raise $1,000 for a water project in San Jacinto, Guatemala; and send four members to the Rotary Leadership Institute (for which the club provides tuition assistance).

The Johnstown/Milliken Rotary Club meets every Thursday at 7 a.m. in Johnson’s Corner. The board of directors meets the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Milliken Police Department.
