YORK
Eva Faye Parker York, of Johnstown, went home to the Lord on Dec. 2, 2012. She was 92.
Mrs. York was born Jan. 13, 1920, in Milliken, to Ardie and Cora Parker. She grew up and lived most of her life in Milliken and on Nov. 1 had the pleasure of being named the town’s Honored Citizen by the Milliken Historical Society.
Mrs. York graduated from Milliken High School, where she enjoyed being named the school’s first prom queen.
When she was 16, she asked the Lord Jesus Christ into her heart, and from that moment forward walked with her savior and helped others know the Lord not only by her actions and lifestyle, but by being active in the church where she played the piano and taught Sunday School. She was a prayer warrior, and not a morning passed without reading her Bible.
Mrs. York was also active in Women’s Club and loved to write poetry.
On June 24, 1939, she married Richard York of Milliken. They were blessed with three children, Larry, Janet, and Darrell.
The Yorks lived in Wyoming, where Mr. York worked for the railroad. They moved back to the Milliken area and farmed for 10 years, raising their children and living in town for 10 years, while Mr. York was in the trucking business until his passing in 1976. At that time, Mrs. York moved in with her daughter, Janet, and her family.
During her lifetime, Mrs. York worked for the U.S. Post Office and was Milliken’s town clerk. She was a wonderful homemaker and babysat every one of her grandchildren: Debbie, Scott, Jim, Julie, Jacque, Ashlee, Richard, and Brian, and her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was famous for her storytelling – most notably her “Joey” stories.
Mrs. York’s walk with the Lord and her unconditional love for family and friends became her legacy and shall live on in perpetuity.
Mrs. York was celebrated home this holiday season by her children, Larry (Mardell) York, Janet (Jim) Marostica, and Darrell (Suzanne) York; grandchildren, Deb (Vince) Kropp, Jim (Lisa) Marostica, Julie Marostica, Jacque (Steve) Ehrett, Ashlee Edgar, Richard York, and Brian York; great-grandchildren, Amy Kropp, Casey (Kathleen) Kropp, Cierra Marostica, Dylan, Daryn, and Chere Ehrett, Eva Marostica, Graeson Edgar, and Emily and Nevin Kitzmiller; great-great-grandchildren, Elby Kropp, Catelyn, Isabell, and Molly Kropp, and Tommy Rivera. She is also survived by brothers and sisters in-law.
Mrs. York was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Richard; her grandson, Scott; her great-granddaughter, Ellen; her parents; and all of her siblings. She was well loved and will be greatly missed and very fondly remembered. We so love you and thank you for your inspiration, your grace, and beauty.
A celebration of her life was held Dec. 7 at Adamson Chapel in Greeley. Private interment.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to “Hospice of Northern Colorado,” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.adamsonchapels.com.
