It's science

MILLIKEN – Although he might be too young to know who MacGyver is, Knowledge Quest Academy eighth-grader Austin Fuller recently had a “MacGyver moment.”
Exhibiting one of 84 projects for KQA’s annual science fair held Nov. 30, Fuller demonstrated the fictional character’s practical application of scientific knowledge and inventive use of common items by creating a light made of eight D-size batteries, a toilet paper roll, metal conduction “alligator” clips, a Mason jar, and pencil lead.
“When this was done,” said KQA middle-school science teacher Jennifer Cherico, “the lead acted as the filament, lighting up and glowing under the jar like a light bulb.”
