Sometimes the cliché is the reality: that was the case on Sunday, when the Milliken Fire Department received a call about a cat chased up a tree by a dog in the 1400 block of S. Frances. Milliken Fire Captain Nat Kronholm, along with firefighters Eric Potter and Omar Serrato, responded and found said feline about 20 feet up in the tree. Firefighter Potter put on his bunker gear (and some gloves) and climbed up. “I think the cat was pretty glad to see him, and almost even started to come down the ladder toward him,” Capt. Kronholm said. The captain said while they were naturally worried about the cat, their bigger concern was that a citizen might risk life on the limbs trying to get the cat down themselves. Tip of the fire helmet to the MFD for protecting and serving both their human (and furry) residents.
