Quilting in the blood of JHS show featured artist

Featured quilter for this Saturday’s Johnstown Historical Society’s Stitches in Time Quilt, Craft, and Demo Show is Doris Magee, a Johnstown transplant from Florida since 2004.
Doris always loved quilts; her grandma made each of her granddaughters one when they were 12. She said she loved to watch her grandmother as she quilted. Her mother also made embroidered quilts. Doris said she enjoyed going to Amish quilt shows long before she ever quilted. It was only a matter of time before she would get started. It was in her blood!
When her daughter was born, she began sewing for her. Later, she got involved in making porcelain dolls and clothes for them. Then the porcelain doll shop closed. Her daughter had moved to Colorado by then, so Doris needed another hobby to help with the loneliness.
