MILLIKEN -- Friday afternoon, his voice husky and harried with fatigue, Town Administrator and Police Chief Jim Burack admitted it was “a pretty intense little night” Thursday.
And that the days ahead will likely be challenging as well.
Saying he woke up at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning and had seen the sun rise, set, rise again and now prepare to set since he slept, Burack and his community are digging and drying out after flood waters from the Little and Big Thompson Rivers and the S. Platte inundated some areas.
Hardest hit: the trailer park on the western edge of town along Broad Street, where Burack said water is still as deep as three-and-a-half feet in some places.To read more, a subscription is needed: Click here to subscribe
