Historic night on hardwood

JOHNSTOWN – Feb. 27, 2013, was a historic night inside the Roosevelt High School gymnasium.
In addition to the eighth-seeded Rough Riders earning their first-ever Class 4A boys’ basketball playoff win, a 61-38 win over No. 9 Weld Central, RHS crowned a new all-time scoring leader.
On a pair of free throws coming with just under five minutes to play in the second quarter, senior Michael Mitchell surpassed the school’s previous all-time leading scorer, Jamie Altergott, with 1,142 points.
Mitchell ended the night with 20 points, bringing his total to 1,152.
