A father and son tradition

By Martin B. Hamilton/The Johnstown Breeze

GREELEY – There’s nothing more typical for a father and son to play catch – or even better, to catch a ballgame together.

But it’s different for Jerry Hildreth Sr. and his son, Jerry Hildreth Jr., of Johnstown. When they go to the ballpark, they’re there to coach the Greeley Grays.

Atypical is it’s the younger Hildreth who’s head coach, having been named that back in January.

Lay-off breeds business start-up for ‘Burrito Lady’

By Zant Reyez/The Johnstown Breeze

The sun has not yet crept over the horizon and already somewhere out there, Hilda the Burrito Lady is up and working in the stillness of the coming morning.

The Burrito Lady says she starts her day at 4:30 a.m.

She has been selling and delivering burritos and tamales for three years. Her passion for cooking comes from the teachings of her mother. Hilda the Burrito Lady says her mom taught her how to make tamales when she was growing up, and still helps make 40-dozen every Wednesday night to sell on Thursdays.
