Friends, family ante up memories of Vera Flynn

MILLIKEN – The living room is tidy, the way she kept it over the years. She loved playing cards. Any type of game you can think of, she’d want to be dealt in.
When she played cards, that’s what she was there to do. She knew the rules to her favorite, Pitch, like she knew the names of her four grandchildren: Cody, Ryan, Erin and Beau. Her focus always the game at hand – there was no time to chat or tell stories.
In the living room of her home, which was bought for $800 in 1943, grandson Cody Farmer and daughter Karen Farmer sit on the couch along the wall. Her son Michael sits in a recliner – on his left his wife, Sherry, sits. Rounding out the group is longtime friend Lois Ann Onorato.
